Helen and Jelle about the Enexis Management Traineeship:
“IN THE TRAINEESHIP YOU GET OPPORTUNITIES THAT YOU WOULD NOT HAVE OTHERWISE"
The energy transition is in full swing. As a grid operator, we face major challenges. We can use the fresh perspectives and ideas of up-and-coming management talent for this. Such as those of Helen Peeters and Jelle de Wit. In our two-year Management traineeship, we help them grow into a management position at the policy level or the role of operational manager. “The great thing is that you can go in any direction here,” says Helen. “You can get a taste of many different directions. Opportunities that you would not get outside of a traineeship.”
CLEAR WHAT TO EXPECT
A master's degree in Psychology with a specialization in Work, Organization & Health and a master's degree in Strategic Management are on Helen's CV. Why did she choose the Enexis traineeship in 2021? “What do I contribute to? That was an important motivation for me. When I started looking around, the energy transition became an increasingly hot topic. At Enexis you are close to such a major, super-current social challenge. And the trainee program is well-regarded. Also not unimportant.” Jelle, a graduate in business administration and strategic management, adds: “It was clear in advance what to expect. And the traineeship makes that happen. You will receive good guidance with a lot of attention to your personal development. Then you soon notice that you are making progress.”
YOU WILL RECEIVE GOOD GUIDANCE WITH A LOT OF ATTENTION TO YOUR PERSONAL DEVELOPMENT. THEN YOU QUICKLY NOTICE THAT YOU ARE TAKING STEPS.

CHOOSE DIRECTION
The traineeship has two directions: management at the policy level and operational management. And then there is a range of expertise. Just think of the technology, ICT, and HR that a large company like Enexis has in-house. “That's the great thing about this traineeship,” says Jelle. “The first month is all about onboarding. You get an impression of the work at the head office. You will also visit branches and see on location what happens at the end of a chain. An interesting period in which you quickly build a network. After my first assignment at the Data & Digitalization department at the head office, I now work at the Realization department at the Eindhoven branch. Here I support the manager of the Training team and I am working on various projects for the department, such as setting up and implementing a new role to become future-proof in the field of data management."
NOW, IN MY SECOND YEAR, I AM THE MANAGER OF A TEAM OF WORK PEPARERS AND TECHNICIANS.

DISCOVER AND DEVELOP
“In your first year, it is mainly about discovering. And that you develop your personality with the help of the various training courses,” Helen adds. “For example, I chose a policy assignment in ICT; the implementation of a new authorization system. Something I was completely unfamiliar with, but that's why it's interesting. Ultimately, I wanted to be closer to the people. In my second year, I am the manager of a team of work planners and mechanics. We focus on everything that happens in the meter cupboard. My assignment was to build this team myself. And now I feel connected to the people.” She smiles proudly. “I have found a place that gives me a lot of energy.”
